In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic forced many of us into what we thought would be, a temporary work from home setup. Even though we are more than two years into it, many of us are still working from home, and seems to be the way we will continue for the foreseeable future.

So it's time to make our space work for us. Here are a few ways to give your at home work space an upgrade

1. Designate A Specific Space

Not everyone has the ablility to have an entire room in the house to dedicate as an office. If that's you, that's fine, pick a space in your home and dedicate that. Whether it's a space in the living room, bedroom, or a space on your kitchen counter. Pick one space and stay there. Do not move space to space.

2. Declutter And Organize

This may seems obvious, but many of us don't know the last time we cleaned our desks. So, now is the time. File all the papers accordingly, put all your writing utensils in a decorative Holder, and toss whatever needs to be thrown out. Keep all workday essentials close and store all nonessentials elsewhere. Clutter can be a distraction and not pleasent on the eyes. But cleaning your space isn't only about the appearance, studies show that clutter and disorganization can negatively affect our stress levels and our ability to focus.

3. Mind Your Background

Working from home means Zoom meetings and skype calls. Messy shelves and bad lighting can be an eye sore. Keep your background uncluttered and clean. If your able try to decorate with interesting pieces that show off your style. If you don't have the space, try downloading a virtual background or even blurring it out.

4. Get Serious About Your Office Furniture

Staying comfortable and healthy is important, and the furniture you choose is key. A chair that supports your back, or a desk that is the right height, a standing desk so your not constantly sitting, or even a monitor stand. Investing in ergonomic furniture can keep you healthy by preventing carpal tunnel syndrome, muscle strains and lower back injury.

5.Make Your Space Your Own

The best thing about working from home is that the space is YOURS and you can do what you want with it. Whether it's paint colors, artwork, or your furry bestfriends bed next you your desk, add things that are positive, calming, and make you productive.
