It’s Summer time and the sun is shining down! As great as that is, the heat can really take a toll on your lawn, if it’s not maintained properly.

Keep your lawn looking its best all summer long with a little TLC and these helpful tips!

    • Right Height. — Maintaining your lawn at the correct height is key. You want to keep it slightly taller than usual, for more protection from the sun, reduces water evaporation, and maintains its natural nutrients. The height determination will vary, depending on the type of grass you have.

    • Water. — Make sure your grass is getting enough water yet still following your local water schedule and rules. Mornings are the best time to water, as the water evaporates less.

    • Grass Clippings. — It’s okay to let the grass clipping lay on top of the freshly cut grass. There are many benefits to this process called grass-cycling!

    • Pet Friendly. — If your family dog’s urination is causing a dead spots in your grass, pour additional water over the area to dilute the urine in the soil. Also, don’t keep waste in the grass, be sure to pick it up and dispose of it.

    • Mower Blade. — Unfortunately, having a dull mower blade, may cause more damage to the grass then you think. Be sure to keep your mower blade sharp to avoid any damage to the grass such as brown edges or disease organisms.

    • Maintain Weeds. — Be sure to pull out and/or apply weed control products to avoid major sections of weed growth.

    • Extra Goods. — Try to pick up toys and such from the grass to avoid damage from an object sitting in the hot grass for a long period of time.

    • Edging. — By edging the grass once it’s mowed, will give the lawn a nice clean look all around.
